The casino scene in Manistee, Michigan, is gaining momentum, with Little River Casino Resort serving as the main draw for regional visitors. Located at the intersection of U.S. 31 and M-22, the resort has become the premier gaming destination in an area that, until recently, had a more niche casino presence.
The resort's scale and offerings are a major factor in its success. Little River originally opened in 1999, and since then has grown to include over 1,100 slot and video poker machines, a sportsbook, and dozens of table games. The resort also features a 292-room hotel and a 1,600-seat event venue, making it a destination for both gaming and entertainment.
In 2023, the resort underwent a major renovation. As of April, key components such as the Heron restaurant and the sportsbook had reopened, while the main gaming floor was approximately 75% complete, according to an MLIVE report. These upgrades augment the resort's existing appeal, which already includes three restaurants and 24/7 gaming options.
So what brings the crowds? For many, Little River's amenities are a major draw. The resort offers more than just gaming, with a variety of entertainment options and resort amenities that cater to a wide range of visitors. The resort also houses BINGO and table games, which are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, according to the Manistee County Tourism Authority.

The resort's digital presence and regional reach have also played a significant role in its success. Little River Casino Resort has partnered with Rush Street Interactive, a leading online gaming and sports betting provider. This partnership has enabled the resort to branch into digital offerings, with an online gaming and sports betting platform.
As a result, Little River has been instrumental in shaping Manistee's broader casino scene. While the area had a few other casinos, Little River has emerged as the clear leader in terms of scale, offerings, and regional appeal. The resort's continued expansion and renovations suggest that it will only become more prominent in the Midwest's gaming landscape in the years to come.
For now, however, Little River's success underscores the growing importance of casino destinations like Manistee in the regional gaming industry. As the area's premier gaming location, Little River Casino Resort is poised to draw even more visitors in the future, solidifying its place as a go-to destination for gaming and entertainment in the Midwest.
